GPS Spotting

I'm hardwiring my GPS tomorrow to the battery in my car, so I don't have to have it plugged into the cigarette lighter all of the time. Where do you keep your GPS in your car? At the top or bottom of your windshield.. on the left or the right? Since this is permanent... I'm not sure where to put it.
